SOUTH THOMASTON – Wanda (Lavin) McLean, 45, loving mother and wife, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, in Rockport, after an incredibly courageous fight with multiple sclerosis for many years, and succumbed to complications on that rainy fall morning. She was born May 21, 1965, in Middletown, Conn., daughter of John and Marjorie Lavin. Wanda attended Mercy High School, Middletown, Conn., and graduated in Lompoc, Calif., in 1983. She married Timothy McLean in September 1982. She traveled around the country for the next few years, and spent three years in Alaska, where she attended the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Her son, Jason, was born there on spring break during a particularly difficult chemistry class. She lived in Connecticut from 1986 to 1992, where her daughter, Jocelyn, was born. She finally settled in South Thomaston, where she spent the remainder of her days. Wanda enjoyed camping and family gatherings. She was a great fisherman. Her faith and love for Christ had such conviction that it brought many of her friends closer to God. In addition to her loving husband of 28 years, Tim McLean, she leaves two children, Jason McLean and Jocelyn McLean of South Thomaston; her parents, John and Marjorie Lavin of Middletown, Conn.; two sisters, Shelley Dennison of Middletown, Conn., and Tanya Lemanski of Cromwell, Conn.; a brother, Dorell Archer of Middletown, Conn.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Renay Didato of Cromwell, Conn. Funeral services will be held 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, Conn., with a funeral liturgy in celebration of her life 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Middletown, Conn.
