HARTLAND – Douglas W. Robinson, 76, died unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital, Pittsfield. Doug was born April 4, 1934, in Palmyra, the son of Richard and Margaret (Hines) Robinson. He was educated in schools in Palmyra and attended Hartland Academy. Doug was a U.S. Army veteran. He was employed at Irving Tanning Co., Hartland, for 47 1/2 years, retiring in 1998. During this time he also worked part-time at Dysart’s Truck Stop, Hermon, for 30 years as a cook. He was a member of Hartland Historical Society. He enjoyed camping, bluegrass festivals, playing cards and being with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Rose (LeVasseur) Robinson of Hartland; their two sons, Dirk Robinson and his longtime partner, Jim Taff, of Portland, Ore., and Darren Robinson and his wife, Anna, of Hartland; two grandchildren, Amy and Adam Robinson of Hartland; one uncle, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Dickie and Jimmy. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Hartland, with the Rev. Whitfield Curtis officiating. At his request, there are no visitations. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sanfield Living Center Activity Fund, Hartland, ME 04943.
