ORRINGTON – Irene A. West, 91, died Oct. 31, 2010, at a Bangor health care center. She was born Oct. 3, 1919, in Orrington, daughter of William James and Linda Jane (Graffte) Wilson. Irene was a member of First United Methodist Church of Orrington; a member and past noble grand of Vashti Rebekah Lodge No. 35, Orrington, to which she served as treasurer for more than 30 years; a past district deputy president of Rebekah Assembly of Maine; member and past master of Enterprise Grange No. 173, Orrington; and a past president of Dean Hill Cemetery Association. Surviving are four children, Thelma J. Kelley and her husband, Dean, of Hudson, Roland H. West and his wife, Kathy, of Jackman, Elsie W. Hamel and her husband, Michael, of Carmel, and Henry W. West and his wife, Debi, of Orrington; 12 grandchildren, Richard, Gail, Daniel, Roland Jr., Christopher, Nathan, Rhonda, Deborah, Brian, Douglas, William and Angela; 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Harold, she was predeceased by a son, Harold Jr.; three sisters and three brothers. The family thanks the staff of Phillip-Strickland House and Bangor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their loving care and compassion. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. Brenda Leclerc, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Orrington, officiating. Friends are welcome to call 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service Wednesday in the Family Reception Rooms of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer.
