MADISON – Janice M. (McMinn) Patterson, 87, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 25, 1923, in Masardis, the daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth (Fraser) McMinn. Janice was formerly employed as a hostess at Pilots Grill, Bangor, and was registry of deeds at the Bangor City Clerk’s Office. She attended the Episcopal church. Janice also enjoyed bird watching, knitting, was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, shopping at Talbot’s and getting her hair done. She also took many trips to the barn with carrots and apples for her beloved horse, Dakota. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul K. Patterson; and brother, Fraser McMinn of California. She is survived by two sons, Thomas W. Atkins and wife, Diana, of Madison, and Edward Atkins of Apex, N.C.; a daughter, Jane Hawksley of Tucson, Ariz.; three stepsons, Robert K. Patterson and wife, Penny, of Greenville, David L. Patterson and friend, Cindy, of Monson, and Richard L. Patterson of California; a brother, Sam McMinn and wife, Bev, of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Imogene M. Bamford of Orleans, Mass.; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; and special kids by heart, Lily-Sadie and Diesel. Graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at Evergreen Cemetery, Milo. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may send donations in her name to a charity of choice. Arrangements under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan.
