ROBBINSTON – Ewal Garfield Walker, 86, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at Calais Regional Hospital. Ewal was born June 15, 1924, in Zion, Ark., son of the late Perry and Martha (White) Walker. Ewal had to leave school at an early age to help his family on the farm. He joined the U.S. Air Force where he completed his education and served his country for 20 years, becoming a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He married Virginia May Clark, April 18, 1950, in Bangor. Ewal was a faithful member of Perry Congregational Church and a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eastport. He enjoyed boating, lobster fishing and gardening. In addition to his parents, Ewal was predeceased by two brothers, James L. Walker and James C. Walker; a half brother, Delbert Walker; and a half sister, Zilla Moudy. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Virginia Walker; their daughter, Lea J. Sullivan and her husband, Joseph, of Robbinston; two sisters, Brucie McElroy, and Maxine Miller and her husband, Dave; two grandchildren, Katherine Sullivan of Portland, and Matthew Sullivan and his wife, Kristina, of Bangor; one great-granddaughter, Mya Sullivan; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Feather. A celebration of Ewal’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at Perry Congregational Church, Shore Road, Perry.
