MADAWASKA – J. Raoul Marquis, 87, passed away Nov. 8, 2010, at a Madawaska health care facility. He was born July 12, 1923, in St. Agatha, son of the late Donat and Anais (Michaud) Marquis. Raoul was a U.S. Merchant Marine World War II veteran. He was a member of Thomas O. Cyr Legion Post No. 147, Madawaska, and a third degree member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 2638, Madawaska. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Georgette (Neveu) Marquis of Madawaska; three sons, George Marquis and his wife, Doris, of Fulton, Miss., Jacques Marquis and his wife, Janie, of Madawaska, and Charles Marquis and his wife, Patricia, of Seattle; five grandchildren, Danielle, Marie, Joseph and his wife, Kiki, of Fulton, Miss., and Jeffrey and Aaron Marquis of Madawaska; two brothers, Bertrand and his wife, Cecile, of Connecticut, and Richard and his wife, Marge, of Massachusetts; and four sisters, Norma and her husband, James, of St. Simons Island, Ga., Jeannine and her husband, James, of California, Dorothy Marquis of Winslow, and Jacquie and her husband, Thomas, of Winslow. He was predeceased by three brothers, Roland, Reneau and Normand; and one sister, Marie Larochelle. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
