BREWER and FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. – Virginia L. Watson, 100, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Nov. 28, 2010, after a brief illness. At the time of her death, she resided in Fleming Island, Fla. She was born July 20, 1910, in Enfield, the daughter of Lester R. and Carrie E. (Gillespie) Priest. Virginia was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, Brewer, where she served 31 years of faithful service as church secretary and worked under the direction of three separate pastors. She chaired or served on numerous committees through the years and was editor of “The Calvary Messenger” for 24 years. She was particularly dedicated to the Women’s Ministry and missionary concerns. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and wonderful friend to many. She was deeply loved and will be truly missed. She is survived by a daughter, Duska Dorschel and husband, James, of Fleming Island, Fla.; grandchildren, Corey Dorschel and wife, Sara, of St. Augustine, Fla., Donald McCann and wife, Alisha, of Holden, David McCann of Washington, Jonathan McCann and wife, Martha, of Rockland and Nia McCann of Bucksport; three great-grandchildren; one niece and four nephews. In addition to her siblings; and late husband, Joseph Watson, she was predeceased by her first husband, Donald McCann, in 1974; and by her dear son, Noel McCann, in 2006. A celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Calvary Baptist Church, 61 State St., Brewer, with the Rev. Roger Davis officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to conversation and refreshments in the downstairs auditorium immediately after the service. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor, after the reception. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Calvary Baptist Church missions program.
