BANGOR – Nancy Cates, 75, died unexpectedly Nov. 29, 2010. She was born May 16, 1935, in Bangor, to Pyam and Avis (Lainsbury) O’Brien. Nancy attended Bangor schools. She was a member of Monroe Extension and Mainely Dolls Club. She was an avid doll collector and gardener. Nancy worked at Eastern Maine Medical Center for 27 years. She was married to the love of her life, Willard. Nancy is survived by her children, Brian, Steve, Lynn, Barry and George, and their families; several “adopted” sons and daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a brother, Eugene; and special friends, Neva and Dale, and Diane and Tom. A graveside service will be held noon Saturday, Dec. 4, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor, where relatives and friends are invited to gather 11:45 a.m. at the Superintendents Lodge, State Street entrance. The family then invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Hampden Congregational Church, 101 Main Road North, Hampden.
