HERMON – The parents of Michelle Nelson and Frederick Gasper Jr. are pleased to announce their engagement. Michelle is the daughter of Ginger Johnson of Sullivan and Ron and Sandy Nelson of Kennewick, Wash. Frederick is the son of Frederick and Marilyn Gasper of Ellsworth. Michelle is a 1987 graduate of Sumner Memorial High School and a 2001 graduate of Washington State University in Richland, Wash., with a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in psychology. She was a recipient of the President’s Award and Female Volunteer of the Year Award. Michelle also graduated from Heritage University in Toppenish, Wash., with a Master of Education degree in counseling, and was a graduate speaker at the graduation ceremony. She is a family reunification program team leader for Families United in Ellsworth. Frederick is a 1986 graduate of Ellsworth High School and a 1987 graduate of Associated Schools in North Miami Beach, Fla., with a certificate in travel industry. He is a courier for FedEx in Bangor. Michelle and Frederick dated as teenagers and went their separate ways shortly after high school. They reconnected after losing contact for almost 23 years and met for lunch at Sullivan Harbor Caf?, where they fell instantly in love with just one hug.
