TOPSFIELD – Mary E. (Hatch) Penney passed away Dec. 10, 2010, at a Lincoln hospital due to complications with diabetes. She was born June 21, 1937, in Springvale, daughter of Lester and Dorothy (Lord) Hatch. Mary was a past matron and 50-year life member of Sarah Orne Jewett Chapter 176 Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John G. Penney Jr.; three sons, Michael, Lawrence and Don Penney; five grandchildren, Julie Brown, Matthew, Andrew and Angela Penney, and Aleece Wiggin; two great-grandchildren, Edward and Emma Wiggin; and brother, William Hatch. She was predeceased by one grandchild, Justin Robinson. A memorial service will be held in the spring.
