CHARLESTON – Terry L. Perkins passed away Dec. 22, 2010, at his home. He was born Feb. 11, 1936, in Charleston, son of Liston L. and M. Arline (Scribner) Perkins. Terry attended Charleston schools and graduated from a licensed practical nursing school in Northampton, Mass. With his family, he operated a dairy farm in Thorndike for several years. Later, he returned to nursing at State Prison, Thomaston. After retiring he moved to Drews Lake, New Limerick, then to Charleston, where he enjoyed helping his son and grandson on their dairy farm – especially from the seat of a John Deere tractor! He was a member of County Road Baptist Church, New Limerick and Bradford Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce (Irish) Perkins; two sons, Richard and Melvina of Charleston, and Roland and Linda of Washington; daughter, Alayne of Crozet, Va.; grandchildren, Bobbi and Eric Lunt of Corinth, Aaron and friend, Emily Crocker, Nicole and Andrew King of Charleston, and Bruce and Nicole of Colorado Springs; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Blake, Thomas, Braiden and Brody; two brothers, Donald and Jill, and Ted of Corinth; and sister, Pat and John Nevins of Bangor. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Judith Smith and Juanita Sabine; and stepfather, Neil Violette. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Bradford Baptist Church. Donations may be made to the church or a charity of one’s choice.
