MANCHESTER – John H. Ingraham died Dec. 22, 2010, in Augusta. He was born Nov. 23, 1932, in Portland, son of Howard and Katherine (Wyman) Ingraham. He was educated in Augusta schools and graduated from Tabor Academy in Massachusetts in 1951, and Bowdoin College in 1955, where he was a member of Zeta Psi fraternity. After service with the U.S. Navy, John began his career with Central Maine Power Co., Waterville, as an engineering assistant. From 1959 to 1962, he was assigned to the Newport office as a local representative and from 1962 to 1967 as a local manager in Pittsfield. In 1967, John was promoted to district manager in Dover-Foxcroft, a position he held for 11 years. In 1978, he returned to Central Maine Power Co.’s general office and worked in customer service and public employee communications until he retired after 36 years of service. John then worked for Sam’s Club until July 2010 when he retired due to ill health. John was a member of Pittsfield and Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis clubs. He also served on the SAD 68 School Board and Manchester Budget Committee. John was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, William W. Ingraham. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ann; a son, David W. Ingraham of Foxboro, Mass.; a daughter, Susan B. McFarland and her husband, John, of Buxton; a son, Peter C. Ingraham and his wife, Anne, of Cape Elizabeth; three grandsons, Scott Sargent of Buxton, Jack Ingraham and Joseph Ingraham of Cape Elizabeth; a granddaughter, Sarah Sargent of Westbrook; a sister, Patricia Murray of East Aurora, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews. There will be no funeral services pursuant to John’s request. A visitation is scheduled 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Jan. 7 at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Private burial will be in the spring in the family lot at Forest Grove Cemetery, Augusta.
