FORT MYERS, Fla. – Alcide J. Albert, 79, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, Dec. 18, 2010, at home. He was born May 24, 1931, in St. David, to Benoit and Alice (Hebert) Albert. Mr. Albert was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Simone (Morin). He is survived by his children, Jen and Toby Taylor of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Carl Albert and Debbie McKinley of Fort Myers, Fla., and Linda and Brian Germaine of Derry, N.H.; and two grandchildren, Alexander and Sydney Germaine. Alcide also leaves behind sisters, Irma Soeder of Connecticut and Doris Valeri of Corte Madera, Calif.; and brothers, Patrick Albert of Madawaska, and Leo Albert of East Hartford, Conn. He was predeceased by sisters, Marie Mae, Corrine and Martha; and brothers, John, Lewis, Chanel and Albanie. Mr. Albert served his country as an Army infantryman during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post No. 147. He started out as a potato farmer and then worked for many years as a millwright at Fraser Paper, Inc. These experiences fostered his strong work ethic. Alcide was an avid reader and loved animals. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and for his favorite sayings, “whatever” and “pas d’choix.” He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, sitting in the sun and riding in his red convertible. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 187 Hampstead Road, Derry, N.H.
