CORINNA – Lucy B. Burke, 78, died Dec. 26, 2010, at a Bangor health care facility after a brief illness. She was born June 16, 1932, in Plymouth, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Margaret (Pelkey) Rines. Lucy was educated in Plymouth schools. She married Harland E. Burke in Plymouth, June 26, 1948. She was a homemaker for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She worked in local shoe shops as a cobbler and cementer. Lucy also worked at Bud’s Shop ‘n Save, Newport, as a wrapper in the meat room. She enjoyed camping, fishing, knitting, reading and traveling. She was predeceased by her husband, Harland E. Burke, July 4, 1988; a grandson, Luke Burke; brothers, Jerome King, Harley Rines, Lester King, John King and Everett Rines; and a sister, Elizabeth Ames. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Paul and Irene Burke of Haines City, Fla., Sandra and Jack Lawson of Winter Haven, Fla., Chuck and Voni Burke of Corinna and Roxanne and Larry Neal of Jefferson; three brothers, Richard Rines of Lisbon Falls, Bub Rines of Palmyra and Carroll Rines of Winsted, Conn.; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport, with Pastor Al Worden officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the family lot at Riverside Cemetery, Newport. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to Newport Community Food Bank, 26 High St., Newport.
