BELFAST – Mary A. (Ryder) Sprague, 70, passed away Dec. 24, 2010, in Belfast. She was born March 30, 1940, in Monroe, the daughter of Frank and Phoebe (Knowlton) Ryder. In her younger years she worked at Maplewood Poultry and spent a lot of her time keeping her two boys in line. Mary was a longtime member of Belfast United Methodist Church and was very active there. She loved music and enjoyed time with family and friends. She always remembered people with a special letter or card. She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, Earl C. Sprague. Mary is survived by her two sons, James Sprague and wife, Torie, of Northport and Earl A. Sprague of Belfast; her brothers, Dennis Ryder of Levant and Melvin Ryder of Belfast; two grandchildren, Kayla and Austin Sprague; and her special friend, Elsie Wells Kaler, who she knew since childhood. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Dec. 29 at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Private graveside services will be held in the spring.
