BAILEYVILLE – Sadie Gertrude Miller, 100, passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, with her loving family by her side in Baileyville. Sadie was born Dec. 3, 1910, in Calais. She attended Calais area schools and married Walter J. Miller in 1933. After raising her two sons, Sadie worked for 20 years at Ware Knitters, Calais. She enjoyed spending time at the family camp on Grand Lake, gardening, crocheting and the times spent with her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Walter J. Miller, in 2003; a son, Ronald Miller; grandson, Robert Miller Jr.; her brother, David Farris; and four sisters, Grace Farris, Florence Pomeroy, Ethel Ackley and Dorothy Agnew. Surviving are her son, Robert Miller and his wife, Judy, of Baileyville; daughter-in-law, Joan Miller of Calais; five grandchildren, Timothy Miller and his wife, Emily, of Baileyville, Tammy Tupper and her husband, David, of Baileyville, Shawn Miller and his wife, Avis, of Princeton, Ronald Todd Miller and his wife, Sherri, of Wasilla, Alaska, and Laurie Luros of Indianapolis; 10 great-grandchildren, Masyn, Michael, Matthew, Myra, Derek, Evan, Benjamin, Shannon, Madison and Olivia; three great-stepgrandchildren, Ashley, Aaron and Andrew; two great-great-grandchildren, Scott and Michael; nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, where a celebration of Sadie’s life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday.
