NORTH CONWAY, N.H., and BANGOR – Lois Ann (Hopkins) Woodman, 83, passed Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, in North Conway, N.H. Lois Ann was born in 1927, in Fort Fairfield, daughter of Louis and Lena Hopkins. She was an amazing person, wife, mother and friend to all who knew her. She was beautiful not only on the outside but also in her heart. She was artistic, intelligent, caring and known for her outstanding sense of humor. Lois Ann married Fred in October 1947 and remained married to him for 57 years until his death in 2005. They lived at 34 Blackstone St., Bangor, for 26 years. During this time she gave birth to three children, Frederick M. Jr., Robert and Barbara. In 1973 they moved permanently to their summer residence at Green Lake, where she designed and helped build their new home – a welcoming abode where family and friends were always well received to enjoy her grand cooking and fun times. In 2001 she moved to Sunbury Village, Bangor, where once again she had many wonderful friends. Lois Ann made many contributions to her community as an active member on boards and organizations that focused on assisting others. She was a member of Bangor Jaycee Wives Club, a past president of Quipus Club of Bangor, as well as Bangor Junior League. She was instrumental in helping to establish Pine Tree Legal Assistance, Maine Association for the Blind, now known as American Council of the Blind of Maine, and Bangor Children’s Home. Lois Ann enjoyed the arts and the New York Giants. She was an accomplished artist. She was a member of Junior League’s Children’s Theater, both behind the scenes and playing roles such as Pinocchio and the mean dwarf in Snow White and Rose Red. She enjoyed performing with Bangor Civic Theatre, Savoyards, Bangor Community Theatre and Eastern Maine Medical Center Hospital Follies. Every Sunday she could be found in front of her television cheering on her Giants! During the 1960s, Lois Ann had her own radio show five days a week on WLBZ radio. She also worked in television, where she wrote and commentated fashion shows for a local upscale clothing store. In the early 1970s, she became a successful real estate agent with Bowker Realty and was with them until she retired in the late 1970s. After a debilitating fall in July 2007, Lois Ann moved to North Conway, N.H., where she was well-loved and cared for by the nurses and staff at Merriman House. She continued to make many friends and spent her days there making others laugh and smile. Lois Ann is survived by her two sons, Frederick M.
