GOFFSTOWN, N.H. – Marjorie (Larsson) Holden died Dec. 27, 2010, at Hillsborough County Nursing Home. She was born Oct. 12, 1922, in Caribou, the daughter of Frank and Huldah (Storm) Larsson. She began school in her hometown of New Sweden, and completed her public schooling as valedictorian of her Caribou high school, Class of 1940. Three years later she graduated with honors from Aroostook State Normal School, Presque Isle. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Boston University with a concentration in music, and went on to earn a Master of Education degree at the University of Bridgeport. As an elementary school teacher she taught in many schools beginning in Washburn, and concluding her teaching career in Greenwich, Conn., for a total of 25 years. As a talented pianist and conductor she was inevitably called upon to be the music teacher for whatever grade she was employed to teach. Her final stint as a pianist was as a volunteer at Lamb’s Workshop, the nursery school at Bedford’s Bethany Church. After World War II she married Edward F. Holden of South Weare, N.H., who survives her. During their retirement years Marjorie and her husband made many trips to European destinations including the homes in which her paternal grandparents lived before emigrating to Northern Maine. In addition to her husband, she is survived by an older brother, John Larsson of Manchester, Conn.; three nieces, Norma Larsson of Fairfield, Joyce Allen of Presque Isle and Ellen Lunt of Cinton; and two nephews, Donald Larsson of Bloomington, Minn., and David Larsson of Haddon Heights, N.J. Mrs. Holden was predeceased by her two sons, Frank, in 2003, and Peter, in 2008. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at French and Rising Funeral Home, 17 South Mast St., Goffstown, N.H. Spring burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro, N.H.
