FRYEBURG – Edith E. Gray, 93, of Fish Street, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Bridgton Hospital. She was born in Dixmont, a daughter of Frank and Hazel (Cleaves) Tenney. She was educated in Bangor schools and worked in retail in the Bangor area until 1947 when she married Norman H. Gray. She and her husband operated Pequawket Valley Farms for many years, where they raised many prize-winning polled Herefords. She was a member of Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was treasurer for more than 30 years, a trustee and also taught Sunday school. She was a former member of Pocahontas and an active and lifetime member of Maine and National Trappers associations. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Norman Gray, in 1991; four brothers, John Tenney, Albert Tenney, G.E. Tenney and Charles Tenney; and three sisters, Ruth Beatham, Marjorie Welton and Lottie May Tenney. She is survived by one daughter, Nan Jackson and her husband, Howard, of Clearwater, Fla., and Stoneham; one son, John Gray of Weaverville, Calif.; two brothers, Herbert Tenney of Hampden and Fred Tenney; one sister, Alice Traylor of Cincinnati; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The family especially thanks Edith’s longtime caregiver, CC Mayberry for bringing a brightly shining light into Edith’s life. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Wood Funeral Home, 9 Warren St., Fryeburg, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5.
