WESTBROOK – Leslie Jane (Luke) Cormier, born Feb. 18, 1957, in Calais, to John and Phyllis (Frederick) Luke, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, surrounded by her family at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. She graduated from Brewer High School in 1975 and from the University of Maine in 1979. Leslie was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She was formerly employed by Mercy Hospital and Pierce Atwood Attorneys. Leslie was an advocate for breast cancer awareness and often spoke at local colleges. She volunteered at Cancer Community Center in hopes that her story would help others. She was always ready to help, anonymously donating her time and money for those in need. She most enjoyed time spent with her children and family. She also enjoyed knitting and trips to the casino with her friends. Leslie is survived by her parents; her daughter, Katy (Cormier) Rice and husband, Roy; son, Nicolas Cormier; sisters, Ann (Luke) Baldwin and husband, Warren, and Mary (Luke) Toppi and husband, Rocco III; niece, Jane (Baldwin) Henzerling; nephews, Rocco IV and Anthony Toppi; and great-nephew, Sammy. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. Interment will be in the spring.
