MEDWAY – Carole A. (DeWitt) Jacobs, 66, wife of Elwin “Sutt” Jacobs, went home to be with the Lord peacefully Jan. 2, 2011, surrounded by her family, at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. She was born Sept. 11, 1944, in Boothbay Harbor, daughter of Ralph “Drake” DeWitt and Margaret E. (Noddin) DeWitt. Carole worked in the bakery at Hannaford for 17 years. Her other employment was with Lennie’s Superette, Medway School Department and Lounsbury’s. Her biggest joys were her grandchildren and taking care of her family. She enjoyed crocheting and going for long Saturday rides – teedles. She loved shopping at Marden’s, any one of them, and was known by her husband as a “loon” shopper. In addition to her husband, Sutt, she is survived by three daughters, Dawn and Blane York of Medway, Patricia Jacobs and Joe Lavoie of Millinocket, and Michele and Leroy Charette of Medway; her pride and joy, her six grandchildren, Cody, Chris, Joey, Dylan, Mallory and Cameron; four brothers, Robert and Nellie DeWitt of Medway, Richard and Betsy DeWitt of South Paris, Neal and Jill DeWitt of East Millinocket, and David and Nancy DeWitt of Millinocket; a “special younger” sister, Linda Elward of Medway; a sister-in-law, Gerry DeWitt of Medway; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an older brother, William DeWitt; and a brother-in-law, John Elward. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday at Calvary Temple-Assembly of God, 2 Orchard St., East Millinocket, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Regginal Adams and the Rev. Mark W. York officiating. Spring interment will be at Grindstone Road Cemetery. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
