STACYVILLE – Guy P. “Sky Dog” Lane, 51, went to be with the Lord in heaven, Jan. 8, 2011, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 31, 1959, in Island Falls, the son of Philip and Ruth (Willigar) Lane. Guy was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an extremely hard worker and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing, working and spending time with his family. He was an amazing Papa to his grandchildren, Haylie, Nicholas and Hope Qualey. He married Sally Guiggey, Oct. 22, 1977. In December of that year, they welcomed their first daughter, Melissa. In September 1979 they welcomed their second daughter, Nicole. In 1997, Guy gained the son he never had when Nicole married Walter Qualey. From a very young age he found his passion was the woods industry. For the past 29 years he drove truck for Jay McLaughlin. When he wasn’t hauling wood he was working on his truck in the garage. In addition to his parents, Guy is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sally; daughters, Melissa, and Nicole Qualey and her husband, Walter; grandchildren, Haylie, Nicholas and Hope; siblings, Danny and his wife, Bev, Barry and his wife, Susan, Gary and his wife, Sheryl, Tony and his wife, Marie, David and his wife, Kim, Jeff, Steven and his wife, Lynn, Susan and her husband, Robert, and Matthew; many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered fondly by his cousin and long time friend, Vern Lane; and a special nephew, Michael E. Lane. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Calvary Baptist Church, Stacyville, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Donnie Willigar officiating.
