BEALS – Beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Edith Mae Woodward, 88, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, in Machias. Edith was born April 24, 1922, in Beals, daughter of the late John and Geneva Mae (Beal) Faulkingham. She attended schools on Beals and married Neal Royal Woodward Sr. in 1940. She was a member of RDLS Church and was the church organist for many years. She enjoyed playing the organ for family and friends who came to visit her. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed cooking and baking pies and bread. She was predeceased by her husband, Neal Royal Woodward Sr.; and a son, Neal “Bub” Woodward Jr. She is survived by one daughter, Doris Mae Woodward of Beals; two sons, John L. Woodward and his wife, Corrine, of Independence, Mo., and David L. Woodward and wife, Lisa M. Love, of Beals; one brother, Leeman E. Faulkingham and his wife, Viola, of Addison; and two sisters, Pearl and her husband, Cliff Gray, of Brewer and Cindy Alley of Sibley, Mo.; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at the chapel of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 220 Court St., Machias, with Elder Cliff Gray, brother-in-law of Edith, officiating.
