DEXTER – Kenneth Raymond Thompson, 69, went home to be with the Lord Jan. 15, 2011, with his loving wife by his side after a courageous battle with cancer and lung disease. He was born Aug. 31, 1941, in Bangor, the son of Lawrence and Hilda (Pearl) Thompson. He attended Dexter schools and worked for many years at Dexter Shoe Co. On Aug. 2, 1969, Kenneth married Pamela Woodbury. He enjoyed fishing and carpentry, and was proud of the many special projects that he created. He also enjoyed listening to Elvis and Johnny Cash, and watching wrestling and old Western movies. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Pamela of Dexter; a son, Douglas Thompson of San Francisco; a daughter, Beverly (Thompson) Porter and her husband, Robbie, of Brewer; a brother, Otis Thompson and his wife, Joanne, of Connecticut; and a sister and special brother-in-law, Elaine and William Woodbury of Dexter. He was a loving grandfather and will greatly missed by his four grandchildren, Bryce and Lauren Porter, Noah and Claudia Thompson; and a special cat, Calem. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter, with Pastor Tim Curtis officiating. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Spring burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
