GREENVILLE – Emily Tuscan Later, 86, died Jan. 18, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Dec. 11, 1924, in Solon, daughter of Willey and Marion (Whipple) Tuscan. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Greenville for 21 years, retiring in 1986 as postmaster. She served as treasurer for Shaw Library, Greenville, for a few years, and was also a den mother and substitute teacher. During World War II she was a plane spotter for SAC, and was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was predeceased by her husband, George W. Later, in 1985; a brother, Linwood Tuscan; and a sister, Lucile (Tuscan) Schanz. She is survived by two sons, Allen Later and his wife, Nancy, of Bingham and Charles Later and his wife, Sharon, of Shirley; four daughters, Aileen Mendes and her husband, Manuel, of Greenville, Jacqueline Lizotte and her husband, Michael, of Greenville, Penelope Moody and her husband, Richard, of Alaska and Jennifer O’Brien and her husband, Robert, of Milo; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a sister, Mary McAllister of Skowhegan.
