CORINTH – Leo M. DeMerchant, 81, died unexpectedly Jan. 18, 2011. He was born Oct. 23, 1929, in Royal Oak, Mich., the son of Manzer and Celia (Lloyd) DeMerchant. He served in Korea as a member of the Canadian Army. Raised in New Brunswick, he moved to Fort Fairfield in the 1950s, where he worked various jobs including as a bus driver and janitor for SAD 20. He relocated to Corinth in the early 1980s, working on road construction jobs until his retirement. He is survived by his daughters, Gayla Dwyer, Barbara, Linda and Sharon DeMerchant, Debra Ketch and husband, Scott, and Tina McDougall and her husband, Stephen; four granddaughters, Jaime Lynch and her husband, Nick, Ashley and Amanda Ketch, and Tiana McDougall; ex-wife and friend, Martina DeMerchant; and longtime family friend, Donna Doak.
