MILLINOCKET – Alexina M. “Toots” Jones, 92, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at Katahdin Health Care. She was born Dec. 29, 1918, in St. Francis, the daughter of Richard “Regis” and Georgianna (Ouellette) Michaud. Alexina grew up in St. Francis, the seventh of 14 children, moving to Millinocket at age 18, where she worked at Bossie’s Boarding House until meeting Kenneth Jones, whom she married Dec. 2, 1941. In addition to raising their three daughters, Alexis worked for many years for Dr. and Mrs. Peter Mason and their children, who made her feel part of their family. Alexina is survived by her three daughters, Linda LaPlante and her husband, Ronald, of Millinocket, Susan Brooker and her husband, Harry, of Millinocket and Bowman, S.C., and Geraldine Jones of East Millinocket; grandchildren, Kenneth LaPlante and his wife, Tina, Christine Wambolt and her husband, Bill, Jessica Kositz and her husband, Marty, Seth Brooker and his wife, Nichole, Steven Hersey and his wife, Jean, and Rebekah Stanley and her husband, Charlie; great-grandchildren, Richard LaPlante, Micheala Rosebush, Amanda Hersey, Katy Stanley, Hallie Wambolt, Julia Stanley and Jaxon Kositz; a great-great-grandson, Caden Hersey; a brother, Edwin “Bea” Michaud and his wife, Blanche, of Houlton; a sister, Hazel Bossie of Millinocket; a very special cousin, Lucia Ouellette of St. Francis; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Alexina was predeceased by her husband, and 11 brothers and sisters. The family thanks Deacon Dan Watson, Margaret Plourde and the very caring staff at Katahdin Health Care for their support and kindness. At Alexina’s request, there will be no visiting hours. Graveside services will be held in the springtime at Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Alexina may be sent to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME. 04462.
