VENICE, Fla. – Ida Mae Stinson Trenholm passed suddenly and unexpectedly on to eternal life Jan. 29, 2011, in Venice, Fla., with her family by her side. She was born Dec. 14, 1932, to Marion Harding Stinson and Calvin Stinson Sr. of Prospect Harbor.

Her faith was an important part of her life; trusting the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior and receiving full salvation through her faith in him. Ida Mae attended Higgins Classical Institute, Charleston, and Husson College, Bangor. She married Kenneth Trenholm Sept. 7, 1952. Dick and “Babe” shared 58 years together living in Prospect Harbor, Camden and Venice, Fla. They also spent many wonderful times filled with family and friends at their camp by Squaw Mountain, Greenville, and later on Moosehead Lake, Rockwood. Ida was a great athlete and competitor. She played basketball in school and was a Maine state champion candlepin bowler and loved bowling with her brother, Trug, on their team, the Herring Chokers. She was an avid tennis player and especially enjoyed playing with her sister, LouAnn, and competing with her groups of friends in Venice, Fla. She skied in her younger years, making sure all of her children were “on the hill.” She enjoyed the game of golf, especially playing with her husband, children and grandchildren and the “nine holers” at Waterford, Venice, Fla. “Babe” loved Prospect Harbor and had many great stories from when she was a youngster about life with her parents, playing and working around the shore and the good natured mischief she would get into with her five siblings, especially her brother, Charlie. Ida’s warmth, strength, forgiving nature and great sense of humor and love of fun made her the center of our family and she freely shared these wonderful characteristics with her many friends and anyone who may be standing next to her in the grocery store line. The void she leaves in our lives is immeasurable as is our thanks to God for the gift of her.

Ida Mae was predeceased by her parents; and her sisters, Eva Grace Wight, Joyce Marie Stratton and LouAnn Francis; and by nieces, Marilyn Sherman and Ellen Wight. She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Richard Trenholm; their four children, Kenneth Trenholm Jr. and his wife, Judi Trenholm, of Rockport, David Trenholm and his wife, Elsie Trenholm, of Beech Hill Pond, Jay Trenholm of Camden and Linda Trenholm of Holden; nine grandchildren, Daniel Trenholm and his wife, Joiey Trenholm, Jason Trenholm and his wife, Grace Trenholm, Hope Trenholm, Jay Trenholm II, Blake Trenholm, Chelsea Trenholm, Hunter Cartwright, Wyatt Cartwright and Georgia Cartwright; two great-grandchildren, Calliegh Trenholm and Sophia Trenholm; brothers, Calvin “Trug” Stinson Jr. and his wife, Ilene, and Charles Stinson and his wife, Orice; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pinkie and Tony Bartley and Kaye and Bill Kinner; many nieces and nephews that she loved and knew her as “Aunt Babe.”

Services will be held 11 a.m. Feb. 19 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 164 Cobb Road, Camden. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Ida’s memory to Cornerstone Baptist Church. Farley Funeral Home, Venice, Fla., is handling the arrangements. To send condolences, visit
