DEER ISLE – On Jan. 29, 2011, Mabel Haskell, 87, passed away at Island Nursing Home, Deer Isle.
Mabel lived for 82 years on Deer Isle, where she spent much of that time working and raising her family and her beloved husband, Roy. At the tender age of 82, Mabel decided to move to Eagle Lake, where she spent more than four happy years taking nature walks, making new friends, shopping and being with her family. On Nov. 2, 2011, Mabel followed her heart back to the island to be near her family and fond memories.
Mabel is survived by her daughter, Sherrel and her husband, Gerry, of Deer Isle; son, Curtis and his wife, Sally, of Stonington; and daughter, Naomie and her husband, Mike, of Eagle Lake. She will be remembered fondly by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for the happy times, songs, sleepovers, walks and talks that she shared with them. Mabel carried joy with her wherever she went, shared her quick wit and humor with everyone, and will continue to do so in the memories and hearts of her family.
