HERMON – Lawrence “Red” St. Louis, 65, passed away in his sleep Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at his home. He was born Sept. 28, 1945, in Orono, son of the late Ralph and Emelia St Louis. Red had an amazing life.

He was always happy and optimistic. He loved people and liked his sports. He cherished his days as an Orono Red Riot, where he was an outstanding athlete and later, as a statewide sports official. He attended Husson College and was a 1977 graduate of University of Maine. Recently, he enjoyed his duties at Bangor High School soccer and basketball games, which meant a lot to him. He was a huge Red Sox fan and followed the Connecticut women’s team. He was a great bowler, and enjoyed golf and fishing. He looked forward to the basketball tournament at the Bangor Auditorium. Through his sports, he gained lifetime friendships and will be missed by many. He was a man of deep faith, a member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish.

Red was predeceased by his parents; and his brothers, Lester, Ronald and Ralph. He is survived by and was the beloved husband of Patty of Hermon; and the devoted father to Karyn of Hampden and Scott of Hermon. He was adored by his son-in-law, Zachary and his grandson, Owen, also of Hampden; sisters-in-law, Ann St. Louis of Milford, Gloria Ouellette of Old Town and Linda St. Louis of Orrington; brothers-in-law, Ed Guy and his wife, Dawn, of Rock Hill, S.C., Jim Guy and his wife, Beth, and their son, Jared, of Portland; former sister-in-law, Mary Alyce Higgins and husband, Stan, of Dover-Foxcroft; special cousin, Tom Shephard and his wife, Nancy, of Zephyrhills, Fla.; many nieces and nephews. Red had numerous, loving friends who were always there for him.

Family and friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, and 3-6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Church, Ohio Street, Bangor. A time of fellowship will be immediately afterward in the church center and burial will be at a later date.
