GARLAND – Mable Eleanor Day, 82, wife of Clyde W. Day, died Feb. 2, 2011, at a Dexter nursing home, after a long illness. She was born May 17, 1928, in St. Albans, the daughter of Clarence and Leona (Chase) Giles.

She was a member of Charleston Pentecostal Church and taught Sunday school there for many years. She was a member of the Souls Harbor group, The Charlestonettes, where she sang with her sister, Maxine Faloon and close friend, Christine Speed. She was also a member of the radio group Heavenly Harmony Hour for many years. Mable loved to make quilts, making many through the years, and winning a blue ribbon at the Garland Days Fair.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Ronald Day and Pam, Randy Day and Julie, and Eugene Day and Aimee, all of Garland; a daughter, Joanna Day of Massachusetts; two sisters, Maxine Faloon and Glendon of Florida, and Olivia Curtis of Exeter; five brothers, Wendell Giles and Colleen of Garland, Duane Giles and Mae of Garland, Harry Giles of Dexter, Herbert Giles and Grace of Dexter and Rodney Giles and Janice of Garland; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and two special nieces, Debbie Tibbetts and Laurie Gardner. Mable was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Webber. The family thanks Dexter Nursing Home and staff for the excellent and loving care given to Mable during her illness.

Friends may visit noon until time of services 1 p.m. Friday at Charleston Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Matthew Ward, the Rev. Lyman Curtis and Dalton Dunfee officiating.
