ORRINGTON – Kathleen R. “Kay” Morrill, 85, wife of the late Christopher L. Morrill, died Feb. 5, 2011, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born March 1, 1925, in Kingman, the daughter of Leo and Dorothy (Richardson) Averill.
Kay was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1944, and Husson College in 1982. She worked for Eastern Fine Paper for more than 20 years. Kay worked for the Clerk of Courts and then as a judicial secretary for the Supreme Court for more than 25 years, retiring in 1985. She then taught at Husson College for a short time. Kay enjoyed being active at her church, East Orrington Congregational Church, and Hammond Street Senior Center. She loved people.
Kay is survived by her daughter and husband, Kathleen and Douglas Sabine of Orrington; one sister, Jeanette Morrill of Bangor; five grandchildren, Michelle, Lisa, Jason, Joanne and Christopher; four great-grandchildren, Kevin, Stephanie, Cole and Hanna; and two daughters-in-law, Candice Morrill of New Hampshire and Sally Morrill of Florida. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her two sons, Bruce and Gary Morrill; and five brothers and sisters.
A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Brookings-Smith, Brewer Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, with Pastor Carl Schreiber, of East Orrington Congregational Church, officiating. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday. Spring interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Orrington. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service at the Family Rooms at Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer.
