EDDINGTON – Harold Stephen Hodgins, 68, died Feb. 8, 2011, with loved ones at his side at his home, after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 14, 1943, in Brewer, son of Frederick A. and Hughene R. (Drisko) Hodgins.
Red graduated from Brewer High School in 1961. He was a staff sergeant in the Maine Army National Guard and was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local 716, for many years. In more recent years, he owned and operated Airline Farm and Excavation, Eddington. Red was chairman of the board of Clifton Baptist Church for several years. He was president of Clifton Area Snowmobile Club since its inception in 2002. He belonged to Penobscot County Conservation Association, Eddington Salmon Club, Ralph J. Pollard Lodge No. 217, Orrington, Maine Consistory 32nd Degree and Anah Shriners. He enjoyed many gatherings with family and friends over the years, always with an abundance of food and good stories. There were many trips throughout the years to Grammy and Grampy’s farm in Tibbetts Town, Columbia Falls. Red enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He was always ready and willing to help anyone in need, and his greatest joy was operating his tractors, trucks and other equipment. He had several hot rod cars throughout the years, his favorite being the 1955 Chevy which he was sure would make it to Florida; however, that would have meant he’d have to leave home!
Surviving are his wife, Debbie Hodgins of Eddington; his children, Stephen Hodgins and his fiancee, Amy Williams, of Eddington, Susan Junkins and her husband, John, of New Hampshire, Jonathan James and his wife, Robin, of Eddington, Heath Reed and his wife, Sandy, of Clifton, Scott Lee and Deanna Lee, both of Eddington; seven grandchildren, Mitchell, Joel, Kayla, Tyler, Jacqueline, Zachary and Nadia; two sisters, Sandra Cookson and Edith Hodgins, both of Eddington; two brothers, Todd Hodgins of Aurora and Keith Hodgins and his wife, Sandy, of Brewer; many nieces and nephews, including three very special ones, Annie, Mark and Darlene.
