FAIRFIELD – Mildred M. Wood went to join the Lord and the angels as she passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 7, 2011. She was born Oct. 28, 1927, in Fairfield, daughter of the late Thomas P. and Annie (Turner) Barker.

Mildred grew up and attended school in Fairfield. In her younger years, she attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Fairfield. She enjoyed all types of candy, but peanut butter cups were her favorite. Mildred was a very caring person who loved all children. She was certainly a blessing to all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Raymond Wood; her brothers, Linwood, Roland, Philip, Raymond, Forest and Elforest Barker; her sister, Arlene Cole; and her nephew, Thomas Barker. Mildred will be sadly missed by her sisters, June Woodworth and husband, Harry, of Benton, and Louise Cole of Vassalboro; her nieces and nephews, Cynthia Cole Michaud and husband, Edward, of Albion, Linda Cole of Albion, June Caron and husband, Leo, of Benton, Natalie Labbe and husband, Steven, of Shawmut, Richard Cole Jr. of Albion, Roger Cole and wife, Patricia, of Canaan, Steven Cole of China, Maine, Linwood Baker of Fairfield, Roland Woodworth and wife, Joanne, of Benton, Trudy Luce of Pennsylvania, Raymond Barker and Martin Barker, both formally of Belgrade, and Jed Barker of California; her sister-in-law, Florence Barker; her brother-in-law, Richard Cole Sr. of Albion; several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Fairfield. Spring committal will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Fairfield.
