HERMON and DELAND, Fla. – Bernard F. “Bernie,” or “Bunny,” Lancaster, 77, died Feb. 6, 2011, at home with the support of his family and Hospice of Volusia/Flagler. He was born in Lincoln, the son of Vera Bailey Cropley and Bernard William Lancaster.

Bernie lived most of his life in Maine, recently moving to DeLand, Fla., to live near many of his children. Bernie retired from General Electric/Turbine as a machinist. Upon retiring he drove a limousine. He enjoyed sports all his life, particularly baseball and basketball. He also enjoyed telling stories and jokes.

Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Anita Witherly Lancaster; children, Patti Hinckley and husband, Scott, Michelle Doyon and husband, Michael, Bernard “Brent” Lancaster, Michael Coen and wife, Jen, and Daniel Coen and significant other, Billie Jean McCracken; grandchildren, Eric Tableman, Christopher Doyon, Danielle Lancaster, Brandon Lancaster, Taylor Lancaster and Brianna Coen; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Jordan and Joslyn; and sister, Janice Lancaster. He was predeceased by his brother, Bruce Lancaster.

A celebration of life will be held in the Bangor area in the spring with burial at Snows Corner Cemetery, Hermon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the University of Maine Women’s Basketball, P.O. Box 370, Orono, ME 04473-0370 or Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
