LITTLE DEER ISLE – Charlotte B. Eaton, 78, died Feb. 10, 2011, at a Blue Hill hospital. She was born July 18, 1932, in Deer Isle, the daughter of Donald and Lisa (Eaton) Weed.

Charlotte earned a living working for the local factories. She was a lifelong member and caretaker of Saunders Memorial Congregational Church, Little Deer Isle. She married Sheldon S. Eaton, July 18, 1956, in Little Deer Isle. Charlotte found pleasure in her family and dear friends, and was often seen riding her bike around town.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Sheldon S. Eaton; four children, Stephen Eaton and his wife, Laura, of Sedgwick, Donald Eaton and his wife, Lisa, of Stonington, Ronald and Doane Eaton, both of Little Deer Isle; five grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters, Tony and his wife, Nancy Weed, Bobby Weed, Cleaveland and his wife, Mira Weed, Austin Weed, Alica Chatto, Vivian Robertson, Bernice Jones, Mildred Steinbeck and Madaline and Philip Hodgkins; many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family thanks the doctors and staff of Island Nursing Home for all the wonderful care given to Charlotte.

Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 9 Thurlow’s Hill, Stonington. A funeral service will be held in the spring at Saunder Memorial Congregational Church, Eggemoggin Road, Little Deer Isle. Spring interment will be at Howard’s Hill Cemetery, Little Deer Isle.
