MEDWAY – Douglas E. “Ikey” Weed, 69, husband of Alice (Carey) Weed, passed away Feb. 10, 2011, at a Millinocket hospital. He was born Oct. 4, 1941, in Brewer, the son of Donald and Arline (Foster) Weed.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving with the Seabees. Ikey will be greatly missed by all – his hunting buddies in Argyle, those who worked with him, as the fourth Franck brother, and by his family for being himself; always the first to help and the last to leave, his sense of being silly, his ability to enjoy the ridiculous and forever leaving us all smiling and better for having him in our lives. He is truly an amazing, loving and giving man, leaving a legacy of laughter and joy. OFY.

In addition to his wife of Medway and his mother of Bangor, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Myra Carey of Howland; a daughter, Jo-Ann and Ricky Morrow of Waltham; granddaughters, Jessie and Jerod Sawyer of Ellsworth and Jennifer and Christian Leathers of Trenton; the newest loves of his life, great-granddaughter, Sage Sawyer, and soon to be great-granddaughter, Raven Leathers; brother, Barry of Argyle; niece, Regina and great-niece, Tara, of Argyle; nephew, Brian Weed of Connecticut; sister-in-law, Ann and Greg Amero of Argyle; brother-in-law, David “Dusty” Carey of Howland; and adopted kids, John, Keith, Sean and Kim.

Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Cedar Vale Cemetery, Argyle. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
