FRANKFORT – George S. Adams Jr., 73, passed away Feb. 11, 2011, surrounded by his family at his home. A lifelong resident of Frankfort, he was born there Dec. 28, 1937, son of the late George S. Adams Sr. and Maxine (Patterson) Adams.

Sonny served in the U.S. Air Force during 1956 and 1957. He was president of George S. Adams Corp. excavation construction. George loved his work and lived his work. When not working he enjoyed his family, friends, driving around in his 1956 Chevy, watching auto racing and his special cat, Nyla. Sonny will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary Jane (Rancourt) Adams; four daughters, Cindy L. Treat of Manchester, Gayle M. Brassbridge and husband, Kenneth, of Frankfort, Kathy J. Palmer of Frankfort and Laurie A. King and husband, Steve, of Corinth; brothers and sisters, Mary Lou Williams and husband, Robert, Richard Adams and wife, Evelyn, Jeannie McCarty, Sandra Shafer, Ronnie Adams and wife, Dee, Connie Wass and husband, Kerry, and Donald Adams; grandchildren, Ben and wife, Michelle, Robert, Emily, Stacey, Dustin, Amanda and husband, Chris, and Megan; two great-grandchildren, Dominick and Wyatt; brother-in-law, Charlie Rancourt and wife, Jane, and their children, Kyna and Kenny; three aunts, Mildred, Louise and Doris; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, with Pastor Steve Nute officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the springtime.
