KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Wallace W. Bridge, 84, died Feb. 17, 2011, in Kissimmee, Fla. Mr. Bridge, “Wally,” was born and raised in Hazardville/Enfield, Conn., son of Chester G. and Helen W. Bridge.

He attended the local grammar school and three years at Enfield (Conn.) High School. He then attended Williston Academy, Easthampton, Mass., and graduated from that institution in 1945. He attended Maine Maritime Academy, Class of 1947, studying marine engineering. He later served as a special agent with Military Intelligence, Boston, during the Korean War. He was employed at C.M. Rice Paper Co., Portland, and later entered one of the family businesses – King’s Oil Co., Brewer, from which he retired as president in 1978. He served as a trustee of Brewer Savings Bank for nine years, and also served as president of Brewer Economic Development Corp. during the formative years of Brewer Industrial Park.

He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Jean; his last wife of nine years, Alice; two younger brothers, David Bridge of Manchester and Peter Bridge of Burlington, Vt.; and a sister, Elizabeth Monson and husband, Justin, of Hallowell. He is survived by two terrific daughters, Deborah Morrill and Alexandra McNeal, both of Kissimmee, Fla.; a very special granddaughter, Nicole Tyson of Mount Sterling, Ky., all of whom he was very proud; a younger brother, John Bridge and his wife, Charlene, of Manchester and The Villages, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Bridge of Manchester and Mary Ellen Bridge of Burlington, Vt.; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends.

There will be no formal service. The family requests no flowers be sent. Memorial donations may be sent to American Lung Association, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330.
