SARASOTA, Fla. – The Rev. Donald Walker Henderson, 83, a United Church of Christ minister who served congregations in Missouri, New Zealand, Florida and Maine, including congregations in Windham, Camden and Bangor, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2011, at his home, due to pancreatic cancer. Donald Henderson was born in Fairfield, the seventh of eight children born to Betsy and the Rev. Alexander Henderson.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College and received a master’s degree from Andover Newton Theological School. In October 2010 www.blurb.com published the Rev. Henderson’s book, “Kiss the Joy as it Flies,” a collection of essays, sermons and poems about his facing cancer and death.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Susann (Clark) Henderson; daughter, Mary Lee; sons, Peter, Joshua and Jacob; and eight grandchildren.
