DOVER-FOXCROFT – Wesley E. Parkman Sr., 96, passed away March 1, 2011, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital, after a long convalescence at Hibbard Nursing Home. He was born Nov. 27, 1914, in Palmyra, a son of Clarence and Beth Parkman.
Wesley was a well-known Dexter mechanic, a Maine guide and an avid fisherman. He ended his working career as a gatekeeper at Katahdin Iron Works.
He leaves behind his wife of 72 years, Shirley; three sons, Wesley Jr. and wife, Connie, Brian and companion, Paul, and Duane and companion, Alton; a daughter, Inez and husband, Delmont Carey; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by grandson, Mike Carey.
At his request there will be no funeral service. There will be a remembrance gathering of food and fellowship for those wishing to attend noon-3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, in the recreation room at Thayer Parkway, Dover-Foxcroft.
