ABBOT – Elizabeth M. (Mitchell) Bickford, 90, passed peacefully March 2, 2011, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. She was born Aug. 16, 1920, in Abbot, a daughter of Lester and Edith (Perkins) Mitchell.

She graduated from Guilford High School, Class of 1939. She married Ivory Bickford, July 1, 1939, after graduation. “Lizzy” was a wonderful homemaker and longtime employee of Moosehead Manufacturing, Monson. She was a 50-year member of Pythian Sisters of Abbot, American Legion Auxiliary of Guilford, Monson Sunshine Club and Abbot Historical Society.

She is survived by four sons, Collin and wife, Karen, Robert and Mark, all of Abbot, and James of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Carl and wife, Jennifer Bickford, of Dover-Foxcroft, Wendy and husband, Frank Cupero, of Parkman, Beth-Ann White of Monson, and William and Kelly Bickford of Brownville Junction; three great-grandchildren, Cassidy Cupero, and Grace and Elijah Bickford; a sister, Harriet Mitchell of Abbot; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 60 years; four brothers, Theodore, Russell, Maynard and Seldon; and two sisters, Addie Mitchell and Donna (Mitchell) Fogg.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Crosby & Neal, Oak Street, Guilford, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Stephen Dean officiating. Spring burial will be at Abbot Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Abbot Historical Society, P.O. Box 105, Abbot, ME 04406.
