MACHIAS and HALLOWELL – Ian William Parker died unexpectedly on the morning of Feb. 28, 2011, at his home in Machias. He was born Oct. 5, 1983, the beloved son of John and Jeanne (Vose) Parker.
Ian graduated from Washington Academy in 2002 and attended the University of Maine at Augusta. He was a musician, beginning his career performing as a solo artist throughout the state of Maine, and was an integral vocalist/ guitarist in various bands including the popular bands “Rumble Strip” and “The Returnables.” Ian was also a recording session musician and played on recordings for numerous talented Maine artists. Ian loved camping and fishing with his dad, writing and composing music, and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed vintage LPs and had an extensive collection. Ian was a unique individual, and his wit and humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, William and Bette Parker, with whom he had a special relationship; grandparents, William and Alice Vose; uncle, Tom Wolverton; and cousin, Evan Weston. He was much loved and will be remembered by his parents, John and Jeanne Parker of Machias; aunts and uncles, Cindy and Michael Merritt of Hancock and their sons, Michael and Marc, of Cherryfield, Stephanie Wolverton of Machias and her daughters, Amy Pelletier of Gorham and Sara Butler of Palmyra, Va., Paula and Craig Maker of Machias and their children, Lindy Weston of Eastport and Joshua Maker of North Haven, Kathy and Bill Anderson of Prospect and their children, Tonya Anderson Oliver of Presque Isle and Kevin Anderson of Belfast, Jane and Wayne Hooper of Kennebec; and stepgrandmother, Velma Vose of Machias. Ian will be greatly missed by his girlfriend, Chelsea Leeman and her daughter, Natalie, and their dog, Engie, of Farmingdale. He also leaves behind many dear friends. Ian was gifted with what musicians called “old soul.” That gift has now been passed on.
