ORONO – Leroy “Roy” G. Chase, 76, died March 6, 2011, at an Orono nursing facility. He was born Nov. 12, 1934, in Orono, the son of Ernest and Mildred (Dupuis) Chase.
Roy graduated from Orono High School, Class of 1953. After high school he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn E. Pelletier, and they settled in Orono. In December 2010, they celebrated 56 years of marriage. Roy worked in the shoe industry for more than 30 years and retired from Olamon Industries in 1999.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Donald; a son, Richard Alan; and a daughter, Kim Holly. Surviving in addition to his wife, Marilyn (Pelletier) Chase, are his daughter, Faye Woodcock Murray and her husband, Kenneth, of Orono; sons, David W. Chase and his wife, Betty, of Milford, Roy J. Chase and his life partner, Jeffrey, of Delmar, Md., and Kelly J. and his wife, Kim, of Lewiston; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Jacqueline Norris of Bangor and Marie Geraldine Doucette of Glenburn. Very near and dear to Roy’s heart was his cat, Little-Man, who he adopted as a kitten from the animal orphanage.
A family memorial service will be held in the spring. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Orono. Those who wish to remember Roy in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Old Town Orono Animal Orphanage, P.O. Box 565, Orono, ME 04473. A service of Brookings-Smith, Orono Chapel.
