WELLS – Dorothy Eleanor (Webb) Gallagher, 96, died March 7, 2011, due to complications from surgery. She was born July 7, 1914, in Island Falls, daughter of Vinal and Frances (Canfield) Webb.

Dorothy was a schoolteacher for many years, teaching in Aroostook County; Skowhegan; Tiverton, R.I.; Medfield, Mass.; and Needham, Mass.

She is survived by four children, Richard Gallagher and his wife, Barbara, of Stone Mountain, Ga., Terence Gallagher and his wife, Janet, of Wrentham, Mass., Sandra (Gallagher) Anderson and her husband, David, of Gardiner and Brion Gallagher and his wife, Maureen O’Brien, of Auburn; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Erwin Ames Gallagher; and a daughter, Sharon Anne (Gallagher) Tarbox of Sanford. The family thanks the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for providing excellent and compassionate care during her end of life.
