BANGOR, Maine — Many Mainers are digging out Tuesday from an early spring snowstorm that blanketed the state overnight.
Parts of the state were under winter storm warning Monday, with forecasts predicting 3 to 5 inches of snow in Bangor with a total accumulation of up to 8 inches by Tuesday evening. Jackman was predicted to see 4 to 8 inches on Monday, and Machias was expected to see 5-7 inches by Tuesday.
Other parts of the state were estimated to see much less snow. Portland was expected to see a total accumulation of less than an inch, and Fort Kent was expected to see 2 to 4 inches by Tuesday.
Some schools were dismissed early in preparation for the storm.
In Bangor, a parking ban was in effect from 11 p.m. Monday though 6 a.m. Tuesday.
A city police dispatcher said no weather-related accidents had been reported early Monday evening.
