GREENVILLE – Kathaleen Mary (Riley) Rockwell, 96, died March 30, 2011, at Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital, Greenville. She was born Aug. 29, 1914, in North Vassalboro, daughter of Patrick E. Riley, who was born in Ballyjamesduff, Ireland, and Nettie Ethel Bessey, who was born in Bingham.
Her mother died at age 35, and Kathaleen, at age 15, helped raise the rest of her family. She married Ervin Rockwell Sr., Sept. 22, 1940, and became a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She worked for Hollingsworth and Whitney Paper Co., Winslow, after high school and then for Atlas Plywood Mill, Greenville. She later worked for Irwin Management Co., Columbus, Ind.
She is survived by a son, Ervin Rockwell Jr. and his wife, Betsy, of Greenville; four grandchildren, Alex, Liza, Ruby and Anne; and a great-granddaughter, Ella Molaghan. She was predeceased by her husband in 1986; and her siblings, Ernald, Carl, Margaret, Cecelia, Mayland and Rosalie.
