MILO – Helen D. Jay, 87, wife of the late Raymond Jay, passed away March 30, 2011, with loved ones by her side at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Monticello, the daughter of the late Melbourne and Gladys (Wade) Carmichael.

Helen enjoyed cooking, playing cards, crossword puzzles, crocheting and her family.

Helen is survived by five children, Ethel Leavitt of Pittsfield, Steven Jay and his significant other, Debbie Burns, of Brownville, Linda Haughton and her husband, Larry, of Schoodic Lake, James Jay of Milo and Debra Moulton and her husband, Michael, of Bradford. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, William Stineford and wife, Heidi, Amelia Carlos, Jerry Lynn Perkins and husband, Jason, Elaine Dunham and husband, Steven, Sherry Pennington, Christy Williams and significant other, James Hall, Billie-Jo Sickler and husband, Danny, Teri Ayer and husband, John, Michael Moulton, and Carrie Doty and husband, Robert; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She leaves three siblings, Charles Carmichael of Monticello, Phyllis Burtt of Leicester, Mass., and Vaughn Carmichael and his wife, Jean, of Spencer, Mass. Helen will be greatly missed by her family and a very special companion, Harold “Bud” Leeman. She was predeceased by a sister, Ethel Carmichael; and a son-in-law, Leonard Leavitt.
