ELLSWORTH FALLS – Edward R. Joy, 76, passed away March 31, 2011, surrounded by his family at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born March 4, 1935, in Franklin, the son of Alden and Retha (Gordon) Joy.
He worked at Ellsworth Woolen Textile Mill, Coke Bottling Co. of Florida and Sargents’ Trailer Sales for more than 30 years. He then owned and operated Ellsworth Mobile Homes, Ellsworth Falls. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family and friends on Graham Lake. His favorite pastime was going to yard sales and always his morning coffee with friends at Dunkin’ Donuts.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 wonderful years, Louise M. (Urquhart) Joy of Ellsworth Falls; children, Debbie Jordan and husband, Harvey, of Waltham, Elizabeth Newman and husband, Steve, of Delaware, Joanne Hopkins and husband, Hoyt, of Hancock, Tommy Joy and wife, Amber, of Ellsworth Falls, Teresa Gray and husband, Richard, of Trenton and Maryann Tozier and husband, Dennis, of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Michael, Tina, Karen, Steve Jr., Jeremy, Heath, Amanda, Andrew, Richie, Gregory Jr., Amy and Denise; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Salisbury of Connecticut, Donna McNulty of Massachusetts and Dianne Carter of Ellsworth; and brother, David Joy of Connecticut. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Timmy; daughter, Barbara Ann; twin sons at birth; brothers and sisters, Gerald Turner, Alden Joy Jr., Hayden Joy, Lila Leonard, Polly Farnsworth and Janice Clough; and his beloved dog, Camilla.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 4, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. Spring interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth.
