HERMON – Lloyd Merrill Lawrence, 79, passed away April 2, 2011, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Lloyd was born March 20, 1932, in Carmel, the son of Turney Drost Lawrence and Phyllis (Merrill) Lawrence.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Clara (Rand) Lawrence; his four daughters, Zoeann Lawrence Prosser and her husband, Byron, of San Antonio, Texas, Denice Lawrence Davis and her husband, Mark, of Manchester, Jennifer Lawrence Regan and her husband, Jack, of Fryeburg and Kimberly Lawrence Spann and her husband, Scott, of Hermon; and his three sisters, Roberta Demmons, Doris Doak and Sally Perry. The family extends its gratitude to New Hope Hospice for its compassion and caring.
Lloyd was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy and worked for most of his life as a truck driver for various trucking firms, most notably St. Johnsbury Trucking Co. Lloyd loved fishing, camping, listening to country music and restoring vintage cars. One of Gramps most favorite things in the world to do was spend time with his 10 grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas and Patrick Prosser, Karrie and Neil Davis, Chad, Melissa and Caleb Spann and Alexzandria and Aaron Regan; and six great-grandchildren by whom he will always be fondly remembered.
A celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held at a later date this summer. Lloyd’s wish is for all grandfathers to spend happy times with their grandchildren.
